Sigh. I’m so jaded from work. Tomorrow is my last day with this company and I still have non-stop work to do. I still get requests from the colleagues to assist them in the preparation of the upcoming events/brochures and whatnots. They only see my importance when I’m able to leave. It’s so tiring rushing through everything I have on hand that I pop panadol pills on a daily basis. No joke ok. I think I’m immune to panadol already that I have to ask from doctor a stronger painkiller. I miss those days in Australia. So carefree and worry-free. I can sleep at anytime I want and skip lectures if I feel like it.
Farewell lunches these few days. So far, I've had Korean and Japanese food, it's western today! But I'm still nursing my cough, sorethroat and slight fever. Sick also need to work!! :(

I must write about the rollercoaster week I had. Last minute screw-ups for my 2 seminars. Last minute changes to the company’s dinner & dance programme item that I was in-charge. It really gets on my nerves that some people simply don’t register what I’ve said in their damn heads. Getting arrowed to take on so many tasks. I felt so unjustified when some people who did not contribute much get the same credit and recognition. All they did were to give those superfluous comments during meetings. Like sooooo uncalled-for. Duh! I was silently sniggering at their inanity. They never try to find solutions for the problems encountered, but to worm themselves out of the predicaments by saying things like “no la, it wouldn’t work”, “no la, the XXX department said it can’t be done”, etc. I was so mad pissed that I felt like throwing daggers at them.
Then the corporate performance bonus was announced last week. Way to low for my liking. The justification is that the payout was based on the company’s performance for 9 months (because we got acquired in March). Meaning they pocket whatever profits the company made from Jan – Apr. Bloody hell. Can’t even pay for the bag that I’ve been eyeing.
It was a seriously overwhelming week. I’m so looking forward to my Bangkok trip next week.

Fuck the colleague who left his mobile in the office and is away at the cafeteria for breakfast because it wouldn’t stop ringing! I think it rang for more than 20 times in the past half an hour. He should know that one of the policy we have is that if your hp is being paid by the office, you’ll need to have your phone by your side during office hours. It’s the same colleague who annoyed the hell out of me. It’s so fucking irritating!
Thank god he just got back. Just my luck to be in the same office as him. Sigh.

Came into office this morning only to find that I left my bunch of keys (house keys + office’s cabinet keys which by the way has my laptop) at home! The horror of it all! Braved the morning traffic to work and having to head back home again. For your information, I stay at East Coast and the office is at Science Park (Buona Vista). Not forgetting the crazy jam on ECP and AYE. I’m such a klutz, how could I have left my keys at home.

a year older but none the wiser
Feb. 13th, 2007 | 11:48 am
When earning money means splurging on holidays. Terrible! It was Hong Kong two weeks ago and a pre-birthday getaway to KL over the weekend. Planning for a Bangkok trip in April. If only I can sit back, shake leg, be a tai-tai and go on trips, because it’s really hard to take a long leave! Other than the fact that I’m fucking busy at work, life is almost good. Looking forward to CNY because of the long break!
Another year older today, and hopefully another year wiser?
And oh, birthday wish is to get a big fat bonus and pay increment come April, and if all fail, maybe a better paying job with more prospects?

Had to rush down from the office to Fort Canning and squeezing in a quick dinner before the concert started, only to find the place packed to the max! Thank god for the babe who was already amidst the crowd. (It was great seeing you after so long! Altho you left the hoard of screaming fans to …ahem.. take a dump, haha. Loads to tell you too, meet up soon!). I was perspiring like a mad woman, literally dripping sweat. I think I’m a sweat-generating machine, no joke! Anyway, Muse was BLOODY GOOD la! :))))
As for next week, Taipei trip is cancelled (@#$%$#$ all thanks to the not so efficient HONG THAI), so the folks and I will be heading to HK only. Now, if only the parents are going to sponsor my shopping & food there! I hope I don’t spend more than a grand –heartpain-

the fittest time for festal cheer

First working day of 2007. I came in to work feeling rejuvenated and all set to usher in the New Year. This also means more work responsibilities and higher expectations (from both the manager and myself). The manager wants me to organise and execute seminars/conferences/events independently. That relates to giving presentations in front of I-dunno-how-many people and conduct lab tours single-handedly. I can foresee me attending more public speaking and copywriting courses. Seems like a very busy year ahead for me!
I actually do have a pile of workload waiting for me, but this obligatory New Year post seems like a must-do. I can handle 10 minutes off the busy work schedule.
For a start, I spent the NYE countdown in front of the telly, shuffling between the Channel 5 countdown and the TVB countdown, with the parents. No elbowing and jostling with the crowd, just me in my comfy pyjamas lounging in front of the tube.
I don’t do resolutions because half the time, I cannot be bothered to keep up to them. But if I have to really list them, it would be, number 1: to save more money. I’m definitely not a keeper of all sorts.
As for now, I’m looking forward to: Muse’s concert in 2 weeks’ time and Taipei/Hong Kong trip in 3 weeks’ time! Reasons to rejoice in this New Year!

The Internet connection at the office is SLOW beyond words, since I got into office. At like 8am? It's even slower than 56k. Not very pleasant because I survive heavily on the Internet for research work. ARGH!

I had Korean BBQ chicken w/rice, tau huey, you tiao and a regular cup of Boost juice for lunch. Still feeling damn bloated at 5pm. Damn, too greedy for my own good.
And oh, did I mention that I was down with stomach flu and fever on Thursday and Friday. Vomitting the whole of Thurs is seriously no joke. I had cramps the next day. The feeling was just like having tummy muscle cramps the next day from doing sit ups after a long hiatus. Madness.

Raoul Private Sale

Thanks to
shayan on the tip off on the private Raoul sale at FJ Benjamin, I got myself 4 shirts and 2 for the brother for a total of only $176. The shirts are going at 3 for $100 and $10 per piece for those with defects. What a steal! On a normal day, a Raoul shirt will cost about $100-$200 I reckon. And these shirts are sample pieces for the next season.
Sale is still on, for today and tomorrow (10am till 5pm). Head down now before all the shirts are snapped up! But a note to all, men shirts are in European size 39 (15.5) and ladies shirts in European size 36.

My new toy: the Sony Ericsson k800i, which takes absolutely fantastic pictures! At 3.2 megapixels, it's the same as my digicam! Who needs a digicam now when you have a phone cum camera. Plus, I've converted a couple of episodes of the Grey's Anatomy and Project Runway to download into the phone. Albeit a small screen, but the resolution is decent enough to watch tv shows on the go. Fucking cool. This has to be one of the best hps I've used ever.

Okayy, I've like 4 meetings and a corporate event (premiere of Casino Royale!) this week! Madness!

the angst of a driver
Oct. 26th, 2006 | 10:07 am
mood:
aggravated
Inconsiderate reckless driving is my number one pet peeve. There are several kinds of drivers on the roads that continuously piss me off. The reckless drivers who lane-change at the last minute without signaling and the motorcyclists who weave in and out at high-speed. The road-hoggers travelling at 80km on the most inner lane (also known as the overtaking lane). Not to mention, heavy-weight vehicles, buses, vans and lorries HOGGING the FREAKING second fastest lane (btw there are 4 lanes on the highway I always travel on), just because they want to overtake another slower vehicle. Like hellooooo, if you can’t keep up the speed, please jolly well move over.
The worst of the lot, the inconsiderate drivers. I’ve been signaling for god knows how long, and NONE of the cars will slow down a wee bit, and if I just inch out just a LITTLE, those fucking cars start horning. Just practice a little courteous driving and there will be less road rage and a lot less angst. Who says the ang mos are barbaric when they are realllyyyyy nice on roads, giving way whenever you signal a lane-change (what I love about Australia). Majority of those who actually slow down and give away in Singapore are the women. Granted that women ain’t that skilled in driving, hence the slowing down whenever a car tries to cut in, but I really appreciate that. The men, usually in their showy Lexus or Mercs, will only speed up when they sense a car trying to cut in front of them. Fucking drive such expensive cars for what, when you’re least a considerate driver.
Just yesterday on the way to work, I witnessed a near accident between a lorry (what’s new) and a sedan car. The mad lorry driver was travelling at such high-speed and he just insisted his way on cutting to the right lane causing the car to swayed right. It’s like trying to fit two cars into one lane. They were just THAT CLOSE. I have a thing for checking out those drivers who annoy the shit outta me and 80% of them are men! I just freaking want to show them THE FINGER each time I encounter them.
URG! I think I can go on forever. I’m such an angsty person (frankly, driving has moulded me to be one).

music (not) to my ears
Oct. 19th, 2006 | 09:35 am
mood:
bitchy
The same colleague is playing some melancholy and sappy lounge kinda music, which actually is pretty nice to listen to, except that it’s on freaking REPEAT mode. I think I must have heard it at least 15 times, and it’s still playing. What’s worst is that he’s not at his desk, but torturing my poor ears to listen to this overly repeated track. The music is miffing me off seriously. Madness.
